Bed and Breakfast Train
Rekindle the romance
onboard the private accommodations of an authentic 1950 era railroad sleeping
car. The deluxe double bedrooms feature a
private enclosed bathroom, classic upper and lower single beds, and individual
climate controls in each room. The dividing wall between some adjacent bedrooms
can be opened to create a large suite sleeping four. Each sleeping car
features at least one shower room.
Check in to the Bed & Breakfast
anytime between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm and once you’re settled in, come down to the private
dining/lounge and enjoy a cocktail and hors d’oeuvres before departure.
At 6:00 pm, once the regular
dinner train guests have boarded the dining cars, the engineer gives a couple of
blasts of the horn and the train begins its’ three hour journey through the
scenic northwoods. Dinner begins once the train leaves town and consists
of a spring salad, soup de jour, your selected entree and finishes with a
delightful desert.
Once the train returns to the
station around 9:00 pm, you can enjoy a video, have a few cocktails, or even
take a stroll in historic downtown Spooner. Main street is only a half block
from the depot. Your porter will be in the lounge serving drinks until late and
be available throughout the night.
Coffee, juice, muffins and danish will be available in the
lounge beginning at 6:00 am and a hearty hot breakfast will be served between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. Check out time is at 10:00
am.
Few of life’s experiences rise to the level of truly great
and fewer yet create memories that you will cherish forever. Spending a
night onboard the Private Railroad Car Dianne Marie is one of those special
experiences that was once reserved for only the rich and famous. From the
1850’s to the 1940’s there was no form of transportation that was more
exclusive and none more luxurious. Now you have the opportunity to
experience one of life’s great pleasures by booking your room on the Dianne
Marie.
Originally constructed for the Sante Fe Railroad by
the great Pullman Company in 1914, the car saw regular service between Los
Angles and Chicago and probably entertained many of the great names of the
period. In 1948, the car went to the Seaboard Air Line and was
remodeled for executive service. The Dianne Marie features polished
mahogany throughout. You can wave at envious crowds from the same
platform that famous politicians and movie stars have before, or relax in
the spacious and comfortable lounge with an ice cold beverage. Your
personal stateroom features a 3/4 size bed, mahogany dresser and closet, and a tiled bathroom
complete with your own private shower. Unlike the plain cars of the average
millionaires, the Dianne Marie is so exclusive that every stateroom has
private facilities. The car was built for the exclusive comfort of six
guests and has been meticulously maintained since leaving railroad service
over 30 years ago by Richard & Dianne Sharratt. Now their private car is
available for you to experience, whether to celebrate a birthday or
anniversary, or simply to experience what it was like to travel like a king,
an overnight on the Dianne Marie will certainly please.
Boarding begins at 4:00 pm
and departs the station at 6:00 pm on a 3-hour roundtrip during which you will be served a 5-course
dinner in the formal dining room. After dinner you may enjoy private time in
your stateroom, step out on the open platform, or relax with an after dinner
drink in the spacious lounge. An attendant will be with you all night to answer
questions, tell fascinating railroad stories and keep your glass full. A
hot breakfast will be served in the morning prior to check out around 10:00
am.
