20th Century Railroad lays tracks into 21st Century
April 1, 2002 -- The Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad, the historic steam and diesel excursion railroad operating between Spooner and Springbrook, Wisconsin announced today that their new website, www.spoonertrainride.com, is operational. "The web presence will allow our current customers and potential customers to see our new schedule, special events, and photo gallery", said Greg Vreeland, General Manager. "In addition, prospective visitors will also be able to view area information and link to area business and information sources", he continued. "The completion of a comprehensive web site has been one our goals for the past two years, but real world capital projects have taken the bulk of our available manpower."
The photo gallery section of the new Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad website will give visitors a chance to view the historic locomotives, passenger cars, and work equipment that is used to keep the trains rolling. The WGNR will also update the website photo gallery following each 2002 special event with current pictures. "This is an excellent opportunity for everyone to see what a great family destination the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad has become," Vreeland said.
