SPOONER RODEO
TRAIN ROBBERIES

July 10-11, 2009

The M.T. Pockets ride again during the Spooner Rodeo.  For the past several years a nasty gang of ruthless outlaws known as the M.T. Pockets has been robbing the passenger train near Spooner, Wisconsin.  It seems that these reprehensible outlaws target the crowds who have come to town to see the renowned Spooner Rodeo.  Each year ever increasing crowds mean additional loot for the bandits and new opportunities to kidnap unsuspecting travelers.

Your trip aboard our Rodeo Trains begins at the civilized Spooner Depot and then heads north into the unexplored territories.  Sometime during our hour and a half journey the train will come to a sudden stop and the gang will come riding across the open expanses with their guns-a-blazing.  After taking time to go through the train to remove all of the valuables Dirty Derrick and Scandalous Sue will choose their hostages and take them off the train.  This is always a great part of the show and will surely be a high point in any kids day.  After a short ride on one of the bandits horses, the Conductor will again yell "All Aboard" and the train will return to Spooner.  Everyone will have a rich collection of photo memories and be a little poorer for the experience.  Make sure to bring your camera to capture all of the zany antics of the M.T. Pockets.

Dinner with the Outlaws

After a long day of robbing trains, the infamous M.T. Pockets need to relax and find some grub.  Our evening train will take you to their secret camp and you will have a chance to chat with these modern day bandits.  As the train arrives the desperados will ride up to the train and then escort you to their campsite.  The kids might even have the chance to take a short ride on one of the bandits horses.  You will be treated to a western barbeque and maybe even some range songs around the ole' campfire.  An old fashioned marshmallow roast will complete the evening before your ride back to civilization aboard the historic steam train.

The Rodeo Train Robberies on the Wisconsin Great Northern Railroad are only a small part of the weekend full of activities during the Spooner Rodeo.  The Rodeo Parade is a great way to spend part of your Saturday afternoon and the Rodeo Performances are always special.  For further information on other activities check out the Rodeo Website.
